1. How can I register for the NAPLEX and MPJE?
Candidates may register online for the NAPLEX and MPJE.
As of May 14, 2011, all examination and score transfer registrations must be submitted using the online application. Any paper applications postmarked after May 14, 2011, will not be accepted and will be returned to the candidate.
Note: If you do not have a Social Security number, which is required to register online, contact NABP’s Customer Service.
2. Which states do not require the MPJE?
Currently, 48 boards of pharmacy require passing the MPJE as a component of licensure. The six boards that do not utilize the MPJE for their law examinations are:
- Arkansas
- California
- Virginia
- Puerto Rico
- Guam
- Virgin Islands
If you are seeking licensure in any of these jurisdictions, please contact the board of pharmacy for their requirements.
3. What is the cost of the NAPLEX and the MPJE?
The fee for the NAPLEX is $485 and the fee for the MPJE is $200.
4. Can I register for the NAPLEX and MPJE prior to graduation?
You may submit your registration prior to graduating, but your state board of pharmacy will not confirm eligibility until you meet all graduation requirements.
5. What should I do if I changed my name since the last time I took the NAPLEX/MPJE or transferred my license?
If you have not notified NABP of your name change since the last time you registered for an examination or transferred your license, you will need to do so before you can proceed with your online registration. This applies to any examination that you would like to register for, as well as applying for license transfer and registering for CPE Monitor.
To ensure that all of the business you have done is contained in one record, providing a complete history of your transactions, NABP requests that you submit documentation regarding your name change. NABP will then update your records so that the next time you register for a service under the new name your prior records will be associated with the new record.
For more information on how to change your name, see FAQ No. 10 in the NAPLEX/MPJE Online Registration Assistance section of the FAQs.
6. How do I schedule an appointment?
If you have received your Authorization to Test (ATT) letter, you may schedule your appointment via Pearson VUE's Web site, www.pearsonvue.com/NABP, or by calling Pearson VUE's Call Center at 1-888/709-2679.
7. I registered online and received an order number from NABP. Can I use this order number to schedule an appointment?
No, the order number is only used as proof of completing the online registration process. You will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) from Pearson VUE upon eligibility approval from the state board of pharmacy in which you are seeking licensure.
8. Can I take both NAPLEX and MPJE on the same day?
Yes, if time permits.
9. Should I withdraw my registration or should I instead change/add in the online registration?
Withdraw your registration if you no longer wish to take the examination that you registered for or do not plan to take the examination before the eligibility period expires. If you withdraw your registration before the eligibility period expires, you will receive a partial refund. No refunds will be given after the eligibility period has expired. Please note that if you withdraw your registration, you must wait five business days before you may re-register for another NAPLEX. This also applies to the MPJE for the same jurisdiction.
Change your registration if you want to take the examination you registered for, but you would like to change the jurisdiction for which you are taking the examination. There is a fee for this change.
10. I want to change my primary state of licensure.
If you wish to change your state of eligibility, an administrative fee will be applied per application. NABP must receive notification from the candidate to process requests. You can request a change of jurisdiction by logging in to the online application and selecting the "Change/Add Item" tab. There is a $50 charge. If you registered before March 28, 2011, please see FAQ 15 in the NAPLEX/MPJE Online Registration Assistance section of these FAQs.
11. How long is the ATT good for?
One year. If you are a licensure transfer candidate, you must test before your official application expires. Please contact the state board of pharmacy in which you are seeking licensure to determine if additional restrictions apply.
12. I want to cancel or reschedule my appointment.
To cancel or reschedule your NAPLEX or MPJE appointment, please contact Pearson VUE's Call Center at 1-888/709-2679 or go online at www.pearsonvue.com/nabp. There will be a fee to reschedule your NAPLEX or MPJE appointment. Please refer to the NAPLEX/MPJE Registration Bulletin for deadlines and fees to reschedule or cancel an existing appointment.
13. I would like an extension on my ATT.
Candidates are given a one-year eligibility period to schedule and take the examination. Requests for eligibility extensions will not be granted. If your eligibility expires, you must submit a new registration and fees.
14. I missed my appointment. How do I schedule a new one?
In order to reactivate/reprocess an ATT, log in to the online application and select the "Re-Apply After No-Show" tab. From there you may re-register for an exam. The administrative fee for NAPLEX is $140, and $90 for the MPJE.
15. How do I report a testing irregularity or suspicious incident?
If you have observed a possible testing violation, you can submit a report on a suspected examination irregularity, an act of unethical behavior, or a breach of security through NABP's examination tip site or contact NABP's Customer Service. NABP examinations are administered under strict security measures, and incidents that compromise the content of NABP examinations are treated confidentially and are investigated fully.
16. What is the palm vein recognition technology and how will it affect candidates sitting for the NAPLEX or MPJE?
Effective May 3, 2010, individuals sitting for the NAPLEX or MPJE will encounter a new security feature, palm vein recognition, when checking in for their examinations at Pearson VUE testing centers. Palm vein recognition works by scanning the veins inside the hand a few inches above a sensor to create a digital template that represents an individual’s unique vein pattern. Palm vein patterns will be recorded when candidates arrive at the testing center to enroll for their examination‚ then matched when candidates return to the testing room after a break. Palm vein patterns will also be compared with those of other test takers to allow Pearson VUE to find people who may have tested under multiple names or identities. For first-time test takers, palm vein patterns will be taken instead of fingerprints. If a candidate has provided his or her digital fingerprint at a previous examination appointment, he or she will provide a fingerprint match prior to using the palm vein recognition system. Other than to Pearson VUE, NABP does not disclose palm vein data to third parties except to comply with law or to identify fraud or illegal activity. If a candidate is unable to provide a digital signature or palm vein pattern, he or she must contact NABP at least 30 days prior to his or her examination date.

3. I received an “Application Error” when I tried to access the log in page. What should I do?

4. I've registered for the NAPLEX/NAPLEX score transfer/MPJE before. Do I need to create a new user account?
If you registered for the NAPLEX, NAPLEX score transfer, or MPJE before March 23, 2011, please create a "New User Registration" to view your examination status or place additional orders.
5. I need to re-apply for the NAPLEX/MPJE after missing my examination appointment. When I tried to use the Re-Apply After No-Show tab it didn’t work. Why?
This tab is not active for one of two reasons:
- Your eligibility will expire in 10 business days or less. Because NABP cannot guarantee that you will receive an ATT before your eligibility has expired, you are unable to re-register using this tab. You will need to register for the exam using the Apply tab.
- You have already re-taken the examination after a no-show and did not pass. If you missed an appointment, re-applied, and subsequently failed the examination you must use the Apply tab.
6. I already sat for the NAPLEX and/or MPJE. How do I see my scores?
If you registered for the NAPLEX or MPJE anytime before March 23, 2011 you will need to create a "New User Registration" to view your scores even if you sat for the test after March 23.
7. Are my user name and password for NAPLEX, NAPLEX score transfer, and MPJE the same as the user name and password I have for CPE Monitor?
Yes, the user name and password is the same for these four programs. If you register for the CPE Monitor service first you may log in to the NAPLEX/MPJE registration form without creating a New User Registration. However, even if you register for the NAPLEX/MPJE first you will still need to register for CPE Monitor in order to participate in this NABP program. Once you have registered for both programs, you may update your profile in either location, including changing your password. Any profile updates will apply to both programs.
8. I transferred my license recently. Can I use my ELTP log in to see my NAPLEX, MPJE or CPE Monitor information?
The username and password you used to request license transfer through NABP's Electronic Licensure Transfer Program will not work on this application system.
9. Why can’t I change my name, date of birth, or Social Security number in my profile?
You have 24/7 access to your profile and can update it as necessary. Some identifying information, however, cannot be updated without formally completing and returning signed request forms to NABP. This ensures the integrity of your profile and that data you previously provided to NABP is accurately applied.
To change your name, date of birth, or Social Security number in your profile, complete the relevant form, have it witnessed by a notary, and return it to NABP.
