William T. Winsley, MS, RPh, Elected NABP President-elect at Association's 105th Annual Meeting

William T. Winsley, MS, RPh, was elected to serve as the 2009-2010 president-elect of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association’s 105th Annual Meeting, May 16-19, 2009, in Miami, FL. Prior to the election, Mr Winsley served as the NABP treasurer from 2008 to 2009 and as an Executive Committee member representing District 4.

Executive director of the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy since 1998, Mr Winsley has also held such positions as assistant executive director, director of internship, and compliance specialist with the Ohio Board. Before joining the Board, he was the assistant director of pharmacy at Akron City Hospital and assistant director of pharmacy and an instructor at the West Virginia University Medical Center College of Pharmacy. He also served as a supervisor of drug distribution at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, OH.

In addition to serving as a member of the NABP Executive Committee from 2001 to 2002 and again from 2005 to 2008, Mr Winsley has participated in many of the Association’s committees and task forces throughout the years. These include the Task Force on Importation Enforcement, Task Force on Limited Distribution and Shortage of Medications, Task Force on Privacy, and Task Force on Model Guidelines for Formulary Development.

Mr Winsley is also a member of the State Alliance for e-Health’s Health Care Practice Task Force for the National Governor’s Association, he served as vice president from 1982 to 1983 and president from 1983 to 1984 of the Akron Area Society of Hospital Pharmacists, and he was an active member of the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is also a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In 1999, Mr Winsley was honored with the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Ohio State University College of Pharmacy.

A graduate of Ohio State University, Mr Winsley earned his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy and his master of science degree in hospital pharmacy administration.
