Vermont News: When is an Expiration Date Required on the Label?
Published in the September 2008 Vermont Board of Pharmacy Newsletter
Vermont does require any medication that is dispensed and will expire in one year or less to have the exact expiration date on the prescription label. The law is found under Title 18, Chapter 82, of VSA §4064(a), Misbranding of Medications.
In an institutional setting, all drugs in unit-dose packaging must specify the drug name, strength, and expiration date (Board Rule 12.3).
