Vermont News: Registration Requirements for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacist Interns
Published in the September 2008 Vermont Board of Pharmacy Newsletter
All persons performing duties that would constitute practice as a pharmacy technician must be registered (Title 26 VSA §§2042a and 2042b). If a technician allows his or her registration to lapse and then decides to reenter the field, that registration must be renewed instead of submitting a new application. The applications to register as a pharmacy technician and/or to renew that registration, are available via our Web site, www.vtprofessionals.org.
If a pharmacist intern (must have attained third-year status in pharmacy school) is working at your drug outlet, he or she must be registered as an intern regardless of whether the hours are required as part of their school rotations or are part of the nonschool-related hours required by Vermont (Title 26 VSA 2032(C) and Part E of the Board’s rules). In addition, their supervising pharmacist must be registered as a preceptor. Please contact the Board office at 802/828-1505 for the necessary forms.
