US House Passed Act to Combat Illegal Methamphetamine Production

Topics: Controlled substances

If signed into law by President Obama, the Combat Methamphetamine Enhancement Act of 2010 (HR 2923) would amend the Controlled Substances Act to effectively require all regulated retail sellers of drug products containing methamphetamine precursors to submit to the Attorney General a self-certification that the seller understands and is in compliance with the related requirements for selling these drug products. The act, which passed in Congress and was presented to President Obama on September 30, 2010, would also require the Attorney General to develop a list of all self-certified individuals and to publish the list on the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Web site. Further, under the act, distributors of listed chemical products would be required to sell only to self-certified regulated sellers.
