Two Indicted, and Three Pleaded Guilty to Charges Related to Pharmaceutical Trafficking
Rey Parra and Abimael Fuente of Florida were indicted on charges of conspiring to traffic in pharmaceutical drugs from a shipment stolen at a Georgia truck stop and driven to New Jersey, United States Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced. According to a Department of Justice (DOJ) press release, the two-count indictment was filed, including the charges of conspiracy and a substantive count of the receipt and attempted sale of stolen goods. The stolen pharmaceuticals had an estimated wholesale value of $8.8 million. Three additional individuals involved in the operation, Luis Andres Faife-Ruiz, Cesar Pereira, and David Topaz, pleaded guilty to the same two counts and await sentencing. Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agents investigated the case, and more details about the operation are included in the DOJ press release.
