Title: Task Force on Standardized Pharmacy Technician Education and Training
Action: Passed
Whereas, pharmacy technicians have become an integral component of pharmacy practice; and
Whereas, state requirements vary regarding the registration, licensure, and certification of pharmacy technicians; and
Whereas, discussions among some state boards of pharmacy have resulted in the conclusion that there is the need for standardized education and training of pharmacy technicians;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP convene a task force to study the feasibility of standardized education and training requirements for the registration or licensure of pharmacy technicians;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the task force assess and recommend revisions, if necessary, to language in the Model State Pharmacy Act and Model Rules of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy addressing standardized education and training requirements for pharmacy technicians.
