Specialty Compounding, LLC, Clarifies Recall Information
On August 9, 2013, Specialty Compounding, LLC, voluntarily recalled all lots of sterile compounded medications produced in its Texas facility. In a revised press release, the company clarified that the recall applies to all sterile medication that has not reached its expiration date, including all strength and dosage forms. An earlier release erroneously indicated that the recall applied only to those products dispensed since May 9, 2013. The company also emphasized that no calcium gluconate, the medication with potential ties to 15 reports of bacterial infection at two Texas hospitals, was shipped outside of the state.
