South Carolina to Participate in NABP PMP InterConnect

The South Carolina Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP), known as SCRIPTS (South Carolina Reporting & Identification Prescription Tracking System) has entered into an agreement with NABP to participate in the NABP PMP InterConnect^TM, currently under development. The NABP InterConnect will facilitate the secure transfer of PMP data across state lines and on a national scale, enhancing the ability of PMPs to fight prescription drug abuse. South Carolina joins the Connecticut, Indiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, Ohio, Virginia, and West Virginia PMPs, which have already signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) as the first step in participating in the NABP InterConnect.

NABP will cover the NABP InterConnect annual participation fees for all participating states for at least five years, and it is the Association’s goal that states will never have to pay annual participation fees to participate. In addition, NABP will cover all costs associated with the development and ongoing operation of NABP InterConnect. Implementation of the NABP PMP InterConnect is currently scheduled to occur by July 31, 2011. Additional details on the development of NABP InterConnect are available in an NABP press release.
