Topics: Patient safety

The 'Script Your Future' campaign, launched May 11, 2011 by the National Consumers League (NCL), provides information, online tools, and other resources aimed to promote medication adherence among United States patients. The campaign Web site, www.ScriptYourFuture.org, provides patients with medication adherence tools including medication wallet cards, sample questions to ask health care providers, and a medication management worksheet. Other resources include information on managing certain chronic conditions and disease states, online educational videos, and a free text-message medication reminder service. A section of the Web site, provides information specific to health care providers such as campaign materials that support provider efforts to educate patients. In addition to the Web site, the campaign will include regional launches and educational events in areas including Baltimore, MD, Cincinnati, OH, Birmingham, AL, Providence, RI, Sacramento, CA, and Raleigh, NC. US Surgeon General Dr Regina Benjamin spoke at the campaign launch event in Washington, DC, and stressed the critical role of health care providers, as well as patients, in improving the national medication adherence rate. More information about the Script Your Future campaign is available in an NCL press release.
