Richard K.“Mick” Markuson, RPh, Begins Term as NABP President following 97th Annual Meeting in Seattle

Richard K. “Mick” Markuson, RPh, executive director of the Idaho State Board of Pharmacy, began his term as president of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) at the conclusion of the Association's 97th Annual Meeting, May 5-9, 2001, in Seattle, Wash.

Mr Markuson assumed the presidency following a one-year term as the Association's president-elect. When his presidential term ends at the conclusion of NABP's 98th Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz, in May 2002, he will serve an additional year as chairman of the Association's Executive Committee. Previously, Mr Markuson was a member of NABP's Executive Committee.

Mr Markuson has been active on many NABP committees and task forces. Most recently, he served as the Executive Committee liaison to NABP's Advisory Committee on Examinations and the Task Force on Licensing of Pharmacy Benefit Managers. He also chaired the Task Force on the Test of Spoken English, the Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation, the Task Force on Pharmacy Technicians, and the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws.

Mr Markuson received the Wyeth-Ayerst Bowl of Hygeia award in 1985. He graduated from the North Dakota State College of Pharmacy in 1960.
