Prescription Solutions Earns VIPPS Accreditation
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) is pleased to announce that Prescription Solutions has earned the Association's Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites™ (VIPPS®) accreditation. Prescription Solutions, a national pharmacy and medical management company, is located online at www.rxsolutions.com. "NABP is pleased to add Prescription Solutions to its list of VIPPS-accredited Web sites," says Donna M. Horn, NABP president. "The VIPPS Seal attests that Prescription Solutions is properly licensed with the appropriate state boards of pharmacy and has met a rigorous criteria review that considers patient confidentiality, security of prescriptions, a quality assurance program, and patient-pharmacist consultation." As a VIPPS-accredited pharmacy, Prescription Solutions may display the VIPPS hyperlink Seal of approval on its Web site. By clicking on the VIPPS Seal, consumers will be able to locate the verified information they need to make informed decisions regarding their choice of online pharmacies. Consumers may also access the VIPPS directory via NABP's Web site at www.nabp.net. "With more and more people using the convenience of the Internet to order their prescriptions, consumers need the quality assurance that a VIPPS designation provides," said John Jones, R.Ph., J.D., vice president of legal and regulatory affairs, Prescription Solutions. "Prescriptions Solutions is honored to receive the VIPPS accreditation as recognition of our commitment to ensuring quality and safety for our members and customers." Prescription Solutions is a pharmacy benefit management company managing the prescription drug benefit of commercial, Medicare and governmental health plans, as well as those of employers and unions. A wholly owned subsidiary of PacifiCare Health Systems, Inc, one of the nation's largest consumer health organizations, Prescription Solutions now serves members through a mail service pharmacy in Carlsbad, CA, as well as through a national network of 53,000 community pharmacies. Online information can be found at www.rxsolutions.com.
Participation in the VIPPS accreditation program is voluntary. The program was developed in 1999 to provide consumers with a reliable means to identify those online pharmacies that have proven their preparedness to meet the unique challenges of the practice of pharmacy via the Internet.
