Over 300 People in Oklahoma Arrested for Illegal Purchase of PSE Products to Make Meth
Agents of the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs Control (OBN), along with local law enforcement officers, have initiated a sting operation targeting customers who purchase or attempt to purchase pseudoephedrine (PSE) products to produce methamphetamine. Beginning November 4, 2011, OBN agents have been doing surveillance on customers and stores, with a focus on suspicious individuals, including customers with unusual behavior as they attempt to purchase PSE products, customers blocked from purchasing PSE products, or people in line to purchase PSE products who have previous methamphetamine-related criminal convictions.
“Once we target and visit with these customers, many of them immediately admitted they were trying to purchase pseudoephedrine to make meth or take to another cook to manufacture the drug for them,” stated Mark Woodward, in an OBN press release titled "Bureau of Narcotics Heads Massive Sting Operation to Halt Meth Production." As a result of the sting operation, taking place at 20 different pharmacies throughout northeastern Oklahoma, 305 individuals have been arrested and 10 meth labs were seized.
