Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh, Elected NABP President-elect at Association’s 102nd Annual Meeting
Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh, was elected to serve as president-elect of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association’s 102nd Annual Meeting, April 8-11, 2006, in San Francisco, CA. Prior to the election, Mr Peacock was a member of the Executive Committee representing District VI. A member of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Mr Peacock was first appointed in 1996 and then reappointed for an additional term in 1999. While on the Board he has served as president from 1998 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2005.
Currently, Mr Peacock is director of Governmental Affairs at CVS/pharmacy Co. Before joining CVS, he steadily progressed through the ranks of the Eckerd Corporation to the position of vice president of pharmacy relations.
Mr Peacock has contributed his time and efforts in many of NABP’s committees and task forces, including the Task Force on Centralized Prescription Filling, Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, the Committee on Resolutions, and the Task Force on the Evaluation and Modification of NABP’s Constitution and Bylaws. In addition he has served on the Task Force to Develop Recommendations to Best Reduce Medication Errors in Community Pharmacy Practice.
Mr Peacock is also a member of such professional associations as the Dallas County and Texas Pharmacy Associations, American Pharmacists Association, and the Texas Federation of Drug Stores. He is the former president and secretary of the Texas Federation of Drug Stores, and served as a member of the American Pharmacists Strategic and Tactical Analysis Team on Practice Environment and Quality of Work Life along with serving on the dean’s advisory councils of the Texas Tech College of Pharmacy, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Texas College of Pharmacy.
He graduated from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy.
NABP is the independent, international, and impartial Association that assists its member boards and jurisdictions in developing, implementing, and enforcing uniform standards for the purpose of protecting the public health.
