Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh, Begins Term as NABP President During the Association’s 103rd Annual Meeting

Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh, began his term as president of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP® ) during the Final Business Session of the Association’s 103rd Annual Meeting, May 19-22, 2007, in Portland, OR. During his presidency, Mr Peacock is committed to assessing the current status of quality outcome and peer review legislation and regulations in the states and the applicability of model language presently included in the Model State Pharmacy Act and Model Rules of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy.

Mr Peacock was sworn in as the 103rd NABP president after serving a one-year term as the Association’s president-elect. Mr Peacock previously served a three-year member term on the NABP Executive Committee. After his presidency concludes, he will serve a one-year term as chairperson of the Association’s Executive Committee.

Currently, Mr Peacock is director of Governmental Affairs at CVS/Caremark. Before the change in ownership, he steadily progressed through the ranks of the Eckerd Corporation to the position of vice president of pharmacy relations.

A former member of the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, Mr Peacock was first appointed to the Board in 1996 and then reappointed for an additional term in 1999. While on the Board he served as president from 1998 to 1999 and from 2004 to 2005.

Mr Peacock has contributed his time and efforts to many NABP committees and task forces, including the Task Force on Centralized Prescription Filling, Committee on Constitution and Bylaws, the Committee on Resolutions, and the Task Force on the Evaluation and Modification of the NABP Constitution and Bylaws. In addition he has served on the Task Force to Develop Recommendations to Best Reduce Medication Errors in Community Pharmacy Practice. Mr Peacock is also a member of such professional associations as the Dallas County and Texas Pharmacy Associations, American Pharmacists Association, and the Texas Federation of Drug Stores. He currently serves on the University of Texas and Texas Tech College of Pharmacy Deans advisory council.

He graduated from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy with a bachelor of science degree in pharmacy.
