Oregon News: No. 487: Synthetic Cannabis and 'Bath Salts'
Originally published in the May 2011 Oregon State Board of Pharmacy Newsletter
At its April 6, 2011 meeting, the Board adopted permanent rules listing synthetic cannabinoids and substituted cathinone type drugs commonly sold as bath salts or pond cleaner in Schedule I of the Oregon Controlled Substances Act. Synthetic cannabis had been listed previously by the Board through a temporary rule in October 2010. This permanent rule replaces the temporary rule, which was due to expire in April. A public hearing was held on March 23, 2011, and written comments were accepted up to the end of business on that date. The Board members reviewed the written and oral public comments and the research material provided by the Board staff prior to adopting the rule.
