The Oregon Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) is a new program intended to help health care providers give patients better care. Practitioners and pharmacists will be able to access a database via the Web to view more complete patient prescription information to help manage patients’ medications.

Retail pharmacies holding controlled substance registrations with the Oregon State Board of Pharmacy and that dispense controlled substances to Oregon residents are to begin data uploading activities on May 2, 2011. Pharmacies are to report all Schedule II through IV controlled substances dispensed to patients. Pharmacies must also post a copy of the Patient Advisory Notice poster in a prominent location in the pharmacy.

For more detailed information or to see if your pharmacy may qualify for a reporting exemption, visit the program’s Web site at www.orpdmp.com and click on the OR PDMP Data Uploader link on the menu on the left-hand side. Pharmacists may also contact the program staff via e-mail at pdmp.health@state.or.us or by phone at 971/673-0741.

Please note that the uploader site will not be available until May 2, at which time pharmacies can register for an account and begin uploading data.
