Old and New Programming Favorites Offer Educational Opportunities at NABP's 100th Annual Meeting
Each year, the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) offers its Annual Meeting attendees programming that provides education as well as networking. Participants will have this opportunity again at the 100th Annual Meeting and Centennial Celebration, held April 24-27, 2004, at The Fairmont Chicago in Chicago, IL. See firsthand the latest information about technology and practice issues during the meeting's Educational Presentation Area. Participants can also discuss these topics while networking at the Hospitality Suite. Also returning to the programming is the popular NABP/United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Breakfast.
Educational Presentation Area Highlights New Products
The Presentation Area is also an educational forum for meeting attendees to see the newest technological products and devices shaping pharmacy practice today. Manufacturer and distributor representatives will be available to discuss their products during the Presentation Area's regular hours from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday, April 24, and 8 AM to noon on Sunday, April 25. Products that will be displayed include dispensing equipment, computer software packages, online services, programs that focus on patient compliance and management, wholesale distributor innovations, and central fill technologies. After the success of NABP's first-ever Poster Session held at the 99th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA, NABP has brought back the event. Viewing times are Saturday, April 24, from 1 to 5 PM, and Sunday, April 25, from 8 AM to noon. The Poster Session allows state boards of pharmacy to share ideas about their best or most noteworthy legislative issues, policy development, or disciplinary cases. Or, boards may present research results from studies they have performed. Previous Poster Session topics ranged from delegated dispensing, signs written in Spanish informing Spanish-speaking pharmacy patients on how they can obtain their prescription information, a demonstration of an electronic inspection reporting system, and advances in telepharmacy.
Hospitality Suite Offers a Chance to Network
Registrants and their guests can take a moment to relax and meet with colleagues and friends in the Hospitality Suite. Members of the Illinois State Board of Pharmacy will host the event and will provide recommendations on their favorite Chicago sites and attractions. The Hospitality Suite will be open from 1 to 5 PM on Saturday, April 24. Refreshments will be provided.NABP/USP Breakfast Presents Issues of Mutual Interest
A returning favorite, the NABP/USP Breakfast has been a meeting event for 12 years. Held from 7 to 8 AM on Monday, April 26, the breakfast serves as a forum for topics of interest to both organizations.Renee Renganathan
