Oklahoma Board Implements Regulation to Block PSE-Product Sales to Meth Drug Offenders

Topics: Pseudoephedrine

Effective November 1, 2010, the Oklahoma State Board of Pharmacy has implemented a regulation stating that any person with a previous meth-related drug offense may not possess pseudoephedrine (PSE) at all. If a pharmacy sells PSE over the counter, then the customer’s name is automatically checked against the Meth Registry and the sale will blocked if the individual has a meth-related drug offense. If the customer has a prescription for a medication containing PSE, then the pharmacy must manually check the Meth Registry located at the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (OBNDD) Web site. All PSE-containing medications must now be classified as Schedule V prescriptions and be submitted to the PMP database. The full text of the law (PDF) and additional information is available on the OBNDD Web site.
