North Dakota to Participate in NABP PMP Interconnect
The North Dakota Prescription Drug Monitoring Program has entered an agreement with NABP to participate in the PMP Interconnect™ currently under development. PMP Interconnect will facilitate the secure transfer of prescription monitoring program (PMP) data across state lines and on a national scale, enhancing the ability of PMPs to fight prescription drug abuse. Participation by PMPs will involve little or no cost to the state. As reported in the March 2 NABP e-News, in addition to North Dakota, operators of the Ohio Automated Rx Reporting System and the Virginia Prescription Monitoring Program have signed memorandums of understanding with NABP as the first step in participating in the PMP Interconnect.
More information about the development of PMP Interconnect, which builds on the progress already made by PMIX (Prescription Monitoring Program Information Exchange), is available in the March 2011 NABP Newsletter. The article also includes a description of the process for secure transfer of data through PMP Interconnect.
Implementation of PMP Interconnect is currently scheduled to occur by July 30, 2011. Those seeking further information or states with PMPs that are interested in participating in the PMP Interconnect, may contact NABP Government Affairs by sending an e-mail to GovernmentAffairs@nabp.net.
