New VAWD, VIPPS Online Applications Provide Efficiency and Convenience for Customers

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) continues to create efficient and convenient means for its program application processes with the launch of online applications for its Verified-Accredited Wholesale Distributors® (VAWD®) and Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites (VIPPS®) programs. The applications can be accessed on the NABP Web site.

“Over the past year, NABP has been improving its Web site technology to provide customers with a more efficient means for submitting program applications,” states NABP President Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh. “The Association will continue to convert the remaining applications to online forms that allow individuals and organizations to quickly and easily apply to NABP competency and accreditation programs.”

The VAWD program provides assurance that the wholesale distribution facility operates legitimately, is validly licensed in good standing, and is employing security and best practices for safely distributing prescription drugs from manufacturers to pharmacies and other institutions. Currently, 161 wholesale distributors are VAWD accredited. VIPPS accreditation identifies to the public those online pharmacy practice sites that are appropriately licensed, are legitimately operating via the Internet, and that have successfully completed a rigorous criteria review and inspection. More than 20,000 pharmacies are represented through 13 VIPPS-accredited pharmacy sites.
