NEHI Report Calls for Research on Care Teams and Medication Adherence
The New England Healthcare Institute (NEHI) issued a report, “Medication Adherence and Care Teams: A Call for Demonstration Projects,” calling for additional research on care teams – which can include physicians, pharmacists, and other non-physician caregivers – and their impact on medication adherence. NEHI calls for a national strategy to research the impact of care teams that implement medication adherence interventions and to examine how care teams may be best deployed. The report advocates developing demonstration projects to test the potential of care teams to impact adherence and recommends specific objectives for such projects. Additional information is available in a NEHI press release.
