Nebraska News: Pharmacist-in-Charge Responsibility
Published in the July 2006 Nebraska Board of Pharmacy Newsletter
A pharmacist-in-charge (PIC) is designated on a pharmacy license as the person responsible for the practice of pharmacy in that pharmacy. A checklist of specific PIC responsibilities was developed by the pharmacy inspectors and approved by the Board of Pharmacy on March 20, 2000. This checklist can be a helpful tool for a new PIC as he or she assumes his or her duties. The checklist outlines the basic physical requirements of a pharmacy, patient counseling, automated record keeping, inventory controls, CS records, prescription content, and dispensing.
