NABP's Executive Committee Names William A. Fitzpatrick, RPh, 2005-2006 Honorary President

Each year the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) Executive Committee selects an individual to serve as its honorary president for the coming year. NABP is pleased to announce that William A. Fitzpatrick, RPh, has been awarded this honor for the year 2005-2006. In recognition of his commitment to the Association's mission and goals, NABP names Mr Fitzpatrick as its honorary president for his service to the public health, for his dedication to NABP and the boards of pharmacy, and for his unshakable integrity and his unselfish concern for patient care.

A licensed pharmacist since 1965, Mr Fitzpatrick has served as a member of the Missouri Board of Pharmacy from 1989 to 1997. His commitment and ability to lead and benefit the Board is exemplified by the fact that he was elected to five consecutive terms as president of his home state's board of pharmacy, an event that has never occurred in the history of the Board.

During the 16 years he has been a member of NABP, Mr Fitzpatrick has played an integral role in and has served on several task forces and committees including the Task Force to Study Pharmacists' Workload, the Task Force on Therapeutic Interchange, and the Pharmacy Practice Committee. In addition to his service to NABP, he has served on many committees for his home state including the Medicaid Pharmacy Subcommittee, the Medical Advisory Committee, the Drug Utilization Review Committee, and the Prior Approval Task Force Committee. Other organizations he has participated in that benefited from his experience include the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists, the American Society of Hospital Pharmacy, and the American Pharmacists Association, to name a few.

All of Mr Fitzpatrick's work has not gone unnoticed. He has received several honors including the St Louis College of Pharmacy Outstanding Alumni Achievement Award in 1992, the Missouri Pharmacist Innovative Pharmacy Practice Award in 1993, and the Missouri Bowl of Hygeia Award in 1995.

Presently, Mr Fitzpatrick serves as a corporate compliance officer for Omnicare, Inc, where he is responsible for compliance training for all employees in addition to working with federal and state agencies on regulatory issues.
