NABP's 98th Annual Meeting Optional Events Encourage Attendees to Discover Phoenix
National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) members, their spouses, and guests may choose from several optional events during NABP's 98th Annual Meeting, May 18-22, 2002, at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix, Ariz.
NABP Golf Tournament
On Monday, May 20, from 1:30 - 7:30 PM, NABP's fifth annual golf tournament will be held at the Pointe Golf Club on Lookout Mountain. Named one of the 450 best public courses in the country by Golf Digest magazine, it offers participants a challenging game and the beautiful scenery of the Sonoran Desert.
Fun Run/Walk
On Tuesday, May 21, attendees can jump start their day with an invigorating early morning run or walk through the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. Sponsored by Pfizer US Pharmaceuticals, participants can opt for either a 3.1-mile run or a 2-mile walk. Both allow participants to enjoy the beauty of Arizona.
Optional Evening Tour
Americans have always been fascinated by the Wild West, and meeting attendees and their guests can revisit this era of American history during the optional event at Rawhide, Arizona's Wild West Theme Park, on Sunday, May 19, from 5:30 - 10:30 PM. Visitors may ride a stagecoach or test their aim at the Shootin' Gallery before heading back to town on a steam locomotive or panning for gold. At the end of the evening, attendees will enjoy an old-fashioned Wild West cookout and a sunset hayride. Cost of the event, including dinner, is $70 per person.
Optional Spouse/Guest Tour
In 1937 Frank Lloyd Wright and his apprentices built Taliesin West from the desert floor and sand of the washes. This year's spouse/guest tour offers a two-hour, behind-the-scenes tour of Wright's winter home and studio, which is located in nearby Scottsdale, Ariz. On Tuesday, May 21, from 9 AM - 1 PM, visitors to Taliesin will get a first-hand look at this masterpiece that exemplifies Wright's ability to blend indoor and outdoor spaces. Cost of the tour is $30.
