NABP's 97th Annual Meeting Offers Spouses/Guests Many Ways to Explore Seattle
While National Association of Boards of Pharmacy's (NABP) members spend their day attending stimulating continuing pharmacy education sessions and seminars, their spouses and guests will have a variety of activities to choose from during NABP's 97th Annual Meeting to be held May 5-9, 2001, at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel and Towers in Seattle, Wash.
The days of having a robot maid or flying to work may not be that futuristic. Spouses and guests will hear from Rick Bakken of Microsoft during the Spouse/Guest Tea, entitled Microsoft Home of the Future, on Sunday, May 6, from 1:30 - 3 PM. Bakken will explain how computers will work with wireless networks and intelligent devices and appliances to help the busy people of the 21st Century live a digital lifestyle both at work and at home. The future may not be too far away after all.
Spouses and guests who are interested in restoring positive energy to their lives through Feng Shui can participate in the Spouse/Guest Feng Shui Demonstration Workshop on Monday, May 7, from 9 - 11 AM. Participants will learn how to rearrange decor, furniture, rooms, structures, and even landscapes to open themselves and their homes to happiness and prosperity. Spouses and guests will gain new insight into the missing elements that disrupt the flow of positive energy and learn strategies to restore harmony and balance in their environment.
Seattle has become the art glass capital of the United States, some say of the world. Spouses and guests will discover this unique art form during the Spouse/Guest Tour of Glass Blowing and Pike Place Market Tuesday, May 8, from 9 AM - 1:30 PM. Participants will tour art glass galleries located in such diverse neighborhoods as Pioneer Square, Belltown, and Eastlake where they will see a glass blowing demonstration by prominent glass artists. There may even be a chance to purchase some of these works of art. After the tour of the glass studios, participants will have an opportunity to tour Pike Place Market, the historical Farmers Market in downtown Seattle, where they will be given an informative tour of the market along with a map of the area. Cost of the tour is $42. Advance registration is required.
Those interested in attending any of the spouse/guest programs should check the appropriate box on the Annual Meeting registration form and send both the form and applicable fees to the NABP Meetings Desk at 700 Busse Highway, Park Ridge, IL 60068.
