NABP Quality Control Processes for the Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) discovered that five candidates who sat for the December 2003 paper-and-pencil Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Equivalency Examination® (FPGEE®) did not adequately follow examination instructions which interfered with computer grading resulting in a failing score. Based upon hand scoring, however, NABP adjusted these candidates' examination scores to reflect a passing performance.
Before each FPGEE examination, verbal and written instructions are given to candidates. Those sitting for the examination are warned to erase changed answers completely, to make certain that marks are complete and dark, and to refrain from making stray marks on answer sheets. NABP reviewed more than 70,000 responses from the December 2003 FPGEE examinations as part of its quality control processes.
