NABP Elects Malcolm J. Broussard, RPh, to Serve as Member of Executive Committee at Association's 102nd Annual Meeting
Malcolm J. Broussard, RPh, was elected to serve a three-year member term, representing District VI, on the Executive Committee of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association's 102nd Annual Meeting, April 8-11, 2006, in San Francisco, CA.
The executive director of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy since 1999, Mr Broussard is responsible for the Board's compliance with federal and state legislative and regulatory mandates. Recently, he directed the implementation of the state's new practice act and coordinated the drafting process for new regulations required under the new act.
Prior to joining the Board, Broussard has served as a staff pharmacist in both the hospital and retail settings. Other positions he has held include director of Pharmacy Services at MacKinnon Home Health Agency and assistant director for Clinical Services at Kenner Regional Medical Center.
An active member of NABP as well as state and local professional associations, Mr Broussard served for four years on NABP's Nominating Committee and one year on the Association's Committee on Resolutions and Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation. He was also the secretary/treasurer of MALTA-GON, an organization of boards of pharmacy in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and North Carolina; a field reviewer for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education's Continuing Education Provider Accreditation Program; and parliamentarian at the Louisiana Pharmacists Association's Annual Meetings.
Among his other activities, Mr Broussard has been a member of the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Louisiana Pharmacists Association, and the Louisiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists since 1978. He is also a member of the International Pharmaceutical Federation and the American Society for Pharmacy Law. Mr Broussard earned his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana.
