NABP Convenes Task Force on Counterfeit Drugs and Wholesale Distributors
The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) has commissioned a Task Force on Counterfeit Drugs and Wholesale Distributors. The Task Force will convene on October 29-30, 2003, in Rosemont, IL.
Developed in response to Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) recently released Counterfeit Drug Task Force Interim Report, the Task Force will examine NABP's Model Rules for Licensure of Wholesale Distributors. Revisions to the Model Rules will be considered in order to deal with the increasing threat of counterfeit drugs. This Task Force is an outgrowth of NABP's work with FDA to update state requirements for wholesale distributor licensure.
Members of the Task Force will include state board of pharmacy members. Interested stakeholders will be invited to comment on the NABP Model Regulations and participate as invited guests. Wholesale distributor organizations, other pharmacy organizations, and government agencies will be among those invited to comment or attend the meeting.
Complete results of the Task Force will be available on NABP's Web site, located at www.nabp.net, and in its Proceedings of the 100th Annual Meeting, which will be released in June 2004.
