NABP Awards VIPPS Certification to AdvanceRx.com

AdvanceRx.com is the latest online pharmacy to receive NABP's Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice Sites™ (VIPPS®) certification. AdvanceRx.com is located at www.advancerx.com.

"NABP is pleased to add AdvanceRx to the list of VIPPS-certified Web sites," says Donna S. Wall, NABP president. "The VIPPS Seal attests that AdvanceRx is properly licensed with the appropriate state boards of pharmacy and has met a rigorous criteria review that considers patient confidentiality, security of prescriptions, a quality assurance program, and patient-pharmacist consultation."

As a VIPPS-certified site, AdvanceRx.com may display the VIPPS hyperlink Seal of approval on its Web site. By clicking on the VIPPS Seal, consumers will be able to find the verified information they need to make informed decisions regarding their choice of online pharmacies. Consumers may also access the VIPPS database directly via NABP's Web site at www.nabp.net, under "VIPPS," and "Verified Internet Pharmacies List."

"We are proud to be a VIPPS site because it enhances our members' experience by offering them additional peace of mind," says Kenneth Czarnecki, senior vice president, member experience at AdvancePCS. "The VIPPS certification signals that AdvanceRx.com has met high standards addressing dependability, quality, and customer service."

AdvancePCS hosts AdvanceRx.com, which was launched in October 2000. The site offers prescription management services and the ability to price and compare brand and generic medications. Other features include a pharmacy locator, drug dictionary, and drug interaction checker. AdvancePCS is one of the nation's largest prescription benefit managers with more than 75 million health plan members and managing approximately $28 billion in annual prescription drug spending.

Participation in the VIPPS certification program is voluntary. The program was developed in 1999 to provide consumers with a reliable means to identify those online pharmacies that have proven their preparedness to meet the unique challenges of the practice of pharmacy via the Internet.
