NABP Awards DMEPOS Accreditation to BioScrip

The National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) announced today that BioScrip, Inc received accreditation for its licensed pharmacies and mail-order facility through the Association’s durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics, and supplies (DMEPOS) accreditation program. The DMEPOS program ensures that pharmacies supplying DMEPOS products meet the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ (CMS) quality and accreditation standards. Those pharmacies that are accredited through the program are doing their part to ensure that Medicare beneficiaries receive the appropriate products, services, and patient care associated with DMEPOS.

Chairman and CEO, Richard H. Friedman, stated, “BioScrip is pleased to have earned DMEPOS accreditation from NABP as we endeavor to provide the highest quality service standards for Medicare beneficiaries.  We appreciate NABP’s efforts in helping us attain this important designation.”

In November 2006, CMS named NABP an accrediting organization for pharmacies that supply DMEPOS products. NABP has more than 100 years of experience in pharmacy regulation, which provides for a thorough understanding of the complexities of pharmacy practice and regulation. The NABP DMEPOS accreditation program is best suited for pharmacies that provide a limited line of durable medical equipment.

“BioScrip’s commitment to providing durable medical equipment to beneficiaries is exemplified in its efforts to be in compliance with CMS’s new standards and to be awarded accreditation,” states NABP President Oren M. Peacock, Jr, RPh. “As the only pharmacy-specific organization approved for DMEPOS accreditation, NABP provides pharmacies with a cost-effective and straightforward DMEPOS accreditation process that meets CMS requirements.”

BioScrip, Inc (www.bioscrip.com) (Nasdaq: BIOS) is a specialty pharmaceutical health care organization that partners with patients, physicians, health care payers, and pharmaceutical manufacturers to provide access to medications and management solutions to optimize outcomes for chronic and other complex health care conditions.
