NABP Appoints Dennis McAllister to ACPE Board

NABP is pleased to announce that Dennis K. McAllister, RPh, FASHP, a member of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy, has been appointed by the Association to the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) Board of Directors for a six-year term ending in 2016. As an active member of NABP, McAllister served one-year terms as chairperson of the NABP Executive Committee, NABP president, president-elect, and treasurer, and three years as an Executive Committee member; his Executive Committee service spanned the years from 2001 to 2007. McAllister has also participated in numerous NABP committees and task forces, including serving as chairperson of the 2009-2010 Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation, serving as Executive Committee liaison of the Task Force to Examine NABP’s Data Resources, and serving on the Task Force to Examine the Quality and Standards of Internship Requirements.

Currently, McAllister is director of pharmacy regulatory affairs at Medco Health Solutions.

Prior to this position, he was director of pharmacy at Banner Desert Medical Center. He was also the assistant dean at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy Glendale Campus. In addition, he served 18 years as director of pharmacy for not-for-profit community hospitals. He has also managed an ambulatory, clinical pharmacy practice and a home infusion, hospice practice. McAllister received a bachelor of science in pharmacy from the University of Minnesota.

McAllister replaces Donald H. Williams, RPh, FASHP, who completed his term as ACPE secretary-treasurer this year, and as an NABP appointee to the ACPE Board of Directors. He joins two other ACPE board members appointed by NABP: Michael A. Moné, RPh, JD, vice president anti-diversion and senior regulatory counsel at Cardinal Health, whose term covers 2006 to 2012; and Donna S. Wall, PharmD, BCPS, FASHP, manager of drug use policy, quality improvement and regulatory compliance at Clarian Health Partners, whose term covers 2008 to 2014.

NABP, the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, and the Ameri¬can Pharmacists Association each appoint three members to the ACPE Board of Directors.
