Microsoft and Yahoo! Now Require VIPPS Accreditation for Online Pharmacy Advertisers

NABP commends Microsoft and Yahoo! for implementing new policies regarding Web sites selling prescription drugs. Microsoft now requires that online pharmacies be accredited through the Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice SitesCM (VIPPSCM) program to validate that those advertising on Bing.com’s United States site meet the highest of standards for consumer protection practices. Yahoo! also now requires Internet pharmacies advertising in the US to be accredited through VIPPS. Ads for Internet drug outlets that are not accredited by VIPPS will no longer be permitted to display advertisements in Bing.com’s or Yahoo!’s US Sponsored Search results.
