Malcolm J. Broussard, RPh, Elected NABP Treasurer at Association's 105th Annual Meeting

Malcolm J. Broussard, RPh, was elected to serve as the 2009-2010 treasurer of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association’s 105th Annual Meeting, May 16-19, 2009, in Miami, FL. Prior to the election, Mr Broussard was a member of the Executive Committee representing District 6.

The executive director of the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy since 1999, Mr Broussard is responsible for the Board’s compliance with federal and state legislative and regulatory mandates. He also directed the research, development, and implementation of the state’s prescription drug monitoring program. Prior to joining the Board, Broussard has served as a staff pharmacist in both the hospital and retail settings.

An active member of NABP as well as state and local professional associations, Mr Broussard served for four years on the NABP Nominating Committee and one year on the Association’s Committee on Resolutions and Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation. He is also the secretary/treasurer of MALTA-GON, an organization of boards of pharmacy in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, Georgia, Oklahoma, North Carolina, Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina. He has served as a member of the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education’s Continuing Pharmacy Education Commission, as well as past president of the Louisiana Pharmacists Association and the Louisiana Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

Among his other activities, Mr Broussard has been a member of the American Pharmacists Association, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the American Society for Pharmacy Law, and the International Pharmaceutical Federation.

Mr Broussard earned his bachelor of science degree in pharmacy from Xavier University of Louisiana.
