Lawrence H. Mokhiber, MS, RPh, Assumes Chair of NABP 2007-2008 Executive Committee, Receives President’s Award
Lawrence H. “Larry” Mokhiber, MS, RPh, immediate past president of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®), assumed the office of chairperson of the Association’s 2007-2008 Executive Committee during the Final Business Session of the NABP 103 rd Annual Meeting held May 19-22, 2007, in Portland, OR. Mr Mokhiber served one-year terms as the Association’s president, president-elect, treasurer, and as an Executive Committee member. For his service as NABP president, the Association bestowed its President’s Award upon Mr Mokhiber during the Annual Awards Dinner at the Annual Meeting.
The executive secretary of the New York State Board of Pharmacy since 1987, Mr Mokhiber provides leadership and coordination of tasks for Board activities relating to the practice of pharmacy. Responsible for directing regulatory issues involving 20,000 registered pharmacists, 6,000 registered establishments, and five colleges of pharmacy, he additionally supervises the registration of pharmacies, manufacturers, and/or wholesale distributors; administers laws dealing with adulteration and misbranding of drugs; and collaborates with federal, state, and local drug enforcement agencies. Mr Mokhiber has also been the executive secretary of the New York State Board of Midwifery since 1992.
An active participant on NABP committees and task forces, Mr Mokhiber was a member of the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination™ Review Committee from 1989 to 1992; was a member of the Advisory Committee on Examinations (ACE) from 1992 to his election to the Executive Committee in 2003; and chaired ACE from 1993 to 1994 and again from 2001 to 2002.
Mr Mokhiber received his master of science in health systems management and administration degree from the Institute of Administration and Management of Union College in Schenectady, NY, and his bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from Albany College of Pharmacy at Union University in Albany, NY.
