The Board of Pharmacy passed a resolution on December 17, 2007, opposing the use of leaf marijuana for medicinal applications unless first approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The Board entered the resolution after reviewing whether there were any scientific studies supporting the use of marijuana for treatment in the United States. It determined that there were safer and more reliable medications that exist that are best for patients but that also provide compassionate symptom management.
