Iowa Board Developing Rules for Internet Pharmacy and VIPPS Requirement
The Iowa Board of Pharmacy is developing rules to regulate Internet pharmacies pursuant to House File 381, which called for rules to define Internet pharmacies and Internet pharmacy sites. In addition, the rules establish requirements for site registration and site content and other matters relating to site registration, application, forms, renewals, fees, termination of registration, and other relevant matters. The rules also cover the requirement that Internet pharmacies doing business in Iowa must be accredited through the NABP Verified Internet Pharmacy Practice SitesCM, or VIPPS®, program.
