Indiana News: Survey
Published in the May 2006 Indiana Board of Pharmacy Newsletter
Since 1997, the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (IPLA) have collaborated in surveying selected groups of health care professionals to help detect shortages and distribution problems throughout the state. The surveys have been attached to the renewals. In recent years, surveys have asked whether or not professionals are interested in volunteering in case of a public health emergency. To date, every professional group surveyed has provided a significant positive response.
ISDH plans to issue analyses of the survey data for each profession in the year following the survey. This type of publication will provide a variety of audiences with baseline information on the numbers, distribution, and aggregate characteristics of health care professionals licensed by the state. The data will also ultimately be linked with population and health care services data to assist the Health Care Professional Development Commission in its efforts to evaluate Indiana health care professional development and distribution and their effect on public health. The results of these analyses are intended to provide a context in which higher education institutions, communities, state agencies, and health care providers can plan, implement, and evaluate health care-related programs and initiatives.
A survey will be attached to the online renewals for pharmacists. The survey will not be available in paper format. Please renew online and complete the survey so the data will be more accurate. The survey is voluntary and will not affect the status of your license or your renewal.
