Idaho News: Rule 162. Prescription Expiration

Topics: Prescription refills

Published in the March 2006 Idaho Board of Pharmacy Newsletter

Note the change in the language from the previous rule regarding expiration of prescription orders from one year to 15 months. “All prescription orders that are legally refillable must have the refill instructions indicated on the face of the prescription order. All prescription orders expire fifteen (15) months after date of issue. For long-term mediation orders, a new prescription must be obtained and a new file number issued.” Remember if you get a prescription without any refill instructions there are no refills. This went into effect on April 6, 2005.
