FTC Workshop to Address Pet Medications, Including Issues Affecting Drug Safety

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) will hold a workshop on pet medication related issues, including drug safety issues, and seeks public comments on the topic. Among other topics, the workshop will consider how current industry distribution and other business practices affect the ability of consumers to obtain written, portable prescriptions that they can fill wherever they choose and the ability of consumers to verify the safety and efficacy of pet medications that they purchase. FTC seeks the views of consumers, veterinarians, and other interested parties on these issues and will hold the workshop on October 2, 2012. After conducting the workshop and reviewing comments, FTC may prepare a report discussing these issues.
