FSMB Live Webcast to Explore Multi-State Licensure

The Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) will provide a free, live Webcast Thursday, April 18, 2013, from its Annual Meeting in Boston, MA, of a panel discussion on current trends in multi-state licensure in health care. The panel, “License Portability: New Strategies for Facilitating Multi-State Practice,” begins at 10 AM (EST) and will explore concepts currently under consideration by the medical community to facilitate practice by physicians in multiple states. The panel will include discussion of licensure compacts, expedited licensing, and other methods that are being explored by regulators – including those in pharmacy and nursing.

The FSMB panel will extend discussions begun last year during the Tri-Regulator Symposium, jointly hosted by NABP, FSMB, and the National Council of State Boards of Nursing. The panel will feature Crady deGolian, director, National Center for Interstate Compacts, The Council of State Governments; Thomas J. Downey, chairman, Downey McGrath Group, Inc; Kathleen J. Selzler Lippert, JD, executive director of the Kansas State Board of Healing Arts; and Lance A. Talmage, MD, FSMB chair. It will be moderated by FSMB President and CEO, Humayun J. Chaudhry, DO.
