FDA Warning: Capsules Sold on Internet Contain Potentially Dangerous Ingredient
TimeOut Capsules, a product marketed as a natural sexual enhancement drug, contain a chemical that may interact with prescription drugs and result in dangerously low blood pressure, warns Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The product, distributed on Internet sites as 2,500 mg capsules, contains hydroxythiohomosildenafil, a chemical similar to sildenafil, which may interact with prescription drugs such as nitrates, including nitroglycerin. FDA advises that consumers who have TimeOut Capsules stop using them immediately. Individuals who have experienced any side effects from sexual enhancement products should consult a health care provider and report adverse events to FDA’s MedWatch program at 800/FDA-1088 or on the FDA Web site. To date, FDA is not aware of any adverse events from the use of TimeOut Capsules.
