September 9, 2010 2:25 pm

An FDA Podcast provides information on the proper administration of nimodipine oral capsules and reminds health care providers that the drug should not be administered intravenously. As reported in the August 12, 2010 e-News, FDA continues to receive reports of intravenous nimodipine use, with serious, sometimes fatal, consequences. The podcast, presented by a pharmacist, also reviews the instructions for nasogastric tube administration in patients who are unable to swallow.
