Title: Electronic Pedigrees

Whereas, the integrity of the pharmaceutical medication supply in the United States is paramount for patient care and safety; and

Whereas, counterfeit, contraband, unapproved, expired, illegally relabeled, diverted, and substandard pharmaceutical products reaching consumers have been identified; and

Whereas, systems and processes can be deployed to assure that pharmaceutical products are distributed through legitimate and authorized entities;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that NABP serve as a resource for state boards of pharmacy and investigate technologies such as Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) as possible electronic data structures for uniquely identifying pharmaceutical products and tracking their distribution.
