Drug Safety Bill Introduced to US Senate
Introduced to the US Senate on August 3, 2010, the Drug Safety and Accountability Act of 2010 (S. 3690) is intended to enhance the ability of the FDA to monitor foreign drug manufacturing sites and to recall potentially dangerous drugs. The bill would require manufacturers to implement quality management plans to ensure the quality and safety of drug components, and to document entities involved in the manufacturing supply chain, as explained in a press release from the bill’s sponsor, US Senator Michael F. Bennet.
