Donna M. Horn, RPh, Begins Term as NABP President at the Conclusion of the 100th Annual Meeting in Chicago

Donna M. Horn, RPh, member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy since 1993 and Board president from 2003-2004, began her term as president of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) following the Association's 100th Annual Meeting and Centennial Celebration, April 24-27, 2004, in Chicago, IL.

Ms Horn was sworn in as the 100th NABP president after serving a one-year term as the Association's president-elect. Ms Horn previously served as NABP treasurer and a member of NABP's Executive Committee. At the conclusion of NABP's 101st Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA, on May 21-24, 2005, she will serve one year as chairperson of the Association's Executive Committee.

Ms Horn has been an active participant in many of NABP's committees and task forces. She has served on the Task Forces on Privacy, Model Guidelines for Formulary Development, Standardization of Technicians' Role and Competencies, and Patient Compliance and Intervention Programs.

Manager of Regulatory Affairs for Brooks Pharmacy in Warwick, RI, since 2002, her responsibilities include the development and implementation of pharmacy operations procedures for the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and the monitoring of proposed and finalized Board of Pharmacy regulations with the development of necessary programs and procedures to ensure the regulatory compliance and quality assurance on behalf of Brooks Pharmacy.

Ms Horn also served as the Board's secretary and as the chairperson and liaison to several of the Board's committees and councils. Ms Horn is also a member of such professional organizations as the Institute for Safe Medication Practices, the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association, the American Pharmacists Association, and the Boston Druggist Association. She was a recipient of the Ruth Davies Flaherty Service Award from Lambda Kappa Sigma, the professional fraternity for women in pharmacy, in 1997; the 2003 Alumni Achievement Award from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in June 2003; and the Nathan Goldberg Award from the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association in September 2003. Ms Horn received her bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences.
