Dennis K. McAllister, RPh, FASHP, Elected NABP President-elect During Association's 100th Annual Meeting

Dennis K. McAllister, RPh, FASHP, president of the Arizona State Board of Pharmacy, was elected president-elect of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) during the Association's 100th Annual Meeting and Centennial Celebration, April 24-27, 2004, in Chicago, IL. Prior to the election, Mr McAllister was NABP treasurer.

Since becoming a member of NABP in 1996, Mr McAllister has served the Association well. He was first elected to the Executive Committee in 2001; in 2003 he was elected to the position of treasurer. Other Association activities he has participated in include the Committee on Law Enforcement/Legislation; Task Force to Examine NABP's Data Resources; and Task Force to Examine the Quality and Standards of Internship Requirements.

A member of the Arizona Board since 1996, Mr McAllister served as board president from 1999 to 2000 and was re-elected for a second term from 2004 to 2005.

Currently, Mr McAllister is the assistant dean at Midwestern University College of Pharmacy Glendale Campus. His professional experience includes 17 years as director of pharmacy for not-for-profit community hospitals; four years managing ambulatory, clinical pharmacy practice; and five years managing home infusion, hospice practice.

Other honors Mr McAllister has received include the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Innovations in Teaching Award in 2002, the Arizona Pharmacy Association Faculty Excellence in Pharmacy Administration Award in 2000; Preceptor of the Year from the University of Arizona College of Pharmacy in 1997; and he was designated a Fellow of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists®. Mr McAllister received a bachelor of science in pharmacy degree from the University of Minnesota.
