A congressional briefing on the continued impact of counterfeit drugs in the United States will be held Thursday, March 15, 2012. The panel will include discussion of the recent situation involving the distribution of a counterfeit version of cancer drug Avastin® to US medical clinics in February 2012. The briefing, sponsored by the Partnership for Safe Medicines, includes presentations by Connie T. Jung, RPh, PhD, Food and Drug Administration, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, and Shay Reid, Pharmaceutical Distribution Security Alliance.
