Charles R. Young, RPh, CFE, Elected to NABP Executive Committee

Charles R. Young, RPh, executive director of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Pharmacy, was elected to a three-year member term on the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy® (NABP®) Executive Committee during the Association's 98th Annual Meeting in Phoenix, Ariz, May 18-22, 2002.

Mr Young began his tenure with the Massachusetts Board in 1985 as a compliance agent, and served in that capacity for more than 10 years prior to assuming the executive director position in 1997. During his tenure with the Board, Mr Young received numerous awards including the President's Pharmacist of the Year Award by the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association, the Pride in Performance Award from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and a Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contribution in the field of drug law enforcement from the US Drug Enforcement Administration. In May 1999 he was initiated into Rho Chi, the national pharmacy honor society at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

His contributions to NABP are numerous. He has chaired both the Committee on Constitution and Bylaws and the Task Force on Central Fill. In addition, he served as a member of the Task Force on Collaborative Practice Agreements and the Task Force on Mail Delivery of Prescription Drug Products. He is currently a member of the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination Review Committee and a state newsletter editor.

Among his other activities, Mr Young is a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the Massachusetts Pharmacists Association, the Massachusetts Health Council, the National Association of State Controlled Substance Authorities, National Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and the Boston Druggists Association. He graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy with a bachelor of science.
