CDC to Raise Awareness About Antibiotic Misuse as Flu Season Begins
Get Smart About Antibiotics Week, an effort coordinated by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will be observed November 15-21, 2010, to help raise public awareness about appropriate antibiotic use. As part of the Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work campaign, CDC coordinates with state-based campaigns, non-profit partners, and other organizations to educate the public about antibiotic resistance and the importance of using antibiotics appropriately during this week-long initiative. Get Smart About Antibiotics Week was first held in 2008, and this year the event will include resources for health care settings, as well as international collaboration. More information is available on the CDC Web site.
